Mechanic, Inf., Co. E, 156th Depot Brig.; of Hertford County; son of W. D. and Mrs. Ida N. Deames. Entered service March 27, 1918, at Murfreesboro, N.C. Sent to Camp Jackson, S. C. Transferred to Camp Sevier Sept. 13, 1918. Promoted to rank of Mechanic May, 1918. Acted as Instructor on drill field and did mechanical work. Mustered out at Camp Sevier, S. C., Dec. 7, 1918.
