The following data is extracted from North Carolina, World War 1, Military Records.
Private, 1st Class Co. L, 30th Div., 119th Regt.; of Halifax County; son of Charlie and Mrs. Annie Coppedge. Entered service July 12, 1917, at Weldon. Sent to Camp Sevier, S. C. Transferred to Camp Merritt. Sailed for France May 12, 1918. Fought in all battles with his division until wounded at the Battle of Bellicourt Sept. 29, 1918. Bullet in arm. Sent to Base Hospital No. 37, in England. Returned to USA April 3, 1919. Mustered out at Camp Jackson, April 7, 1919.
