U. S. N., Fireman 1st Class, of Washington County; son of E. W. and M. E. Chesson. Entered the service at Plymouth, N.C., Feb. 2, 1918, and sent to Norfolk, Va. On U. S. S. McNeal, Mine Sweeper, and U. S. S. Jean. Made two trips overseas. Mustered out of the service Sept. 19, 1919, at Hampton Roads, Va.
