Cumings, Isaac
The following data is extracted from History of the Town of Cornish, Sullivan County, New Hampshire.
The first known record of this name in this country is that of Isaac Comings spelled (Cumings). He came from Eng. or Scotland to this country about 1640. He and his descendants for several generations settled chiefly in the towns of eastern Mass. The direct line of those of his descendants who came to Cornish is as follows: Isaac1, b. in 1601; d. in 1677. John2, b. 1630; m. Sarah Howlet. He d. Dec. 1, 1700. She d. Dec. 7, 1700. John3, b. 1657; m. Sept. 13, 1680, Elizabeth Kingsley. She was killed by the Indians July 3, 1706. (See Belknap, I, 173.) John4, b. July 7, 1682; m. Elizabeth Adams Oct. 3, 1705. He d. April 27, 1759. She d. April 30, 1759.
