The following data is extracted from History of the Town of Cornish, Sullivan County, New Hampshire.
5. DANIEL4 COLE (Daniel3, Ebenezer2, Ephraim1) was b. Dec. 16, 1792, in Plainfield. A prosperous farmer; m. first, Jan. 16, 1815, Martha Johnson of Cornish, dau. of Abel and Sarah E. (Chase) Johnson, b. in 1797, and d. March 2, 1832; m. second, Aug. 27, 1833, Mrs. Lucinda L. (Bryant) Avery, formerly of Cornish, dau. of Israel and Mehitable (Wyman) Bryant, b. in 1805, and d. Oct. 21, 1878. Mr. Cole d. Oct. 17, 1865. Children by Martha Johnson: i. SARAH C., b. Nov. 24, 1815; m. Feb. 13, 1839, Earl Westgate of Plainfield. Six children. (See Westgate.) She d. Jan. 18, 1876.
ii. MARTHA, b. Dec. 5, 1816; m. Nov. 30, 1836, Laurens A. Grannis of Claremont (second wife). Seven children. Lived several years in Claremont on a farm, then rem. to Guildhall, Vt., where they spent the rest of their lives. She d. July 3, 1898. He d. Oct. 30, 1896.
iii. ABEL JOHNSON, b. Nov. 8, 1819; m. -, Marcia Houghton. They lived in Waukesha, Wis.
8. iv. GEORGE L., b. April 16, 1821.
v. HARRIET, b. May 5, 1823; m. July 4, 1843, Nathan Souther, who was b. July 25, 1816, and d. Jan. 18, 1877. She d. March 2, 1902. They lived in Lowell, Vt. Six children.
9. vi. DAN WHEELER, b. Jan. 18, 1826. Children by Mrs. Lucinda L. (Bryant) Avery: 10. vii JOHN MURRAY, b. Aug. 3, 1833.
viii. HOMER FRANCIS, b. Nov. 27. 1837; m. April 15, 1882, Elizabeth Harris. No children. Live in Plainfield.
ix. MARCIA MARIA, b. Aug. 19, 1842; m. Sept. 4, 1873, George Chase, then of Cornish, a brick mason. Two children: 1. Louise. 2. Dana. She d. in Windsor, Vt., Jan. 22, 1882.
11. x. WILBUR WYMAN, b. May 24, 1851.
