Kornegay, Wade Hampton

Wade H. Kornegay was born April 17, 1865, in North Carolina, son of H. R. Kornegay and Miss Jeanette Williams. Mr. Kornegay was a leading lawyer, and served as High Sheriff and clerk of the superior court, during and after the war. Until the age of fourteen, Wade was sent to the academies and high schools of his native county, and at fifteen, entered the Wake Forest College, Wake County, North Carolina, where he remained until he graduated in A.M., at the age of nineteen. After that he taught school four years, being principal of the Richland high school. In 1889 he took a summer law course at the University of Virginia, and from there went to Vanderbilt University, Tennessee, where in one year he took the regular two years' course, graduating in June, 1890, with the degree of LL. B. After twelve months spent in travel through the Southwester States and Territories, Mr. Kornegay located at Vinita, Indian Territory, where he is now practicing in the Federal courts. Mr. Kornegay is a gentleman of good address and agreeable manners, possessed of a superior classical education, and gifted with all those attributes necessary to the make-up of a successful lawyer. He is popular in his community and has a very fair practice.
