The following data is extracted from History of the Town of Cornish, Sullivan County, New Hampshire.
4. CHAS. VINAL8 COBB (Levi7, Ebenezer6-5-4-3, John2, Henry1) b. May 18, 1829; m. June 12, 1850, Betsey A. Day of Cornish, dau. of Samuel C. and Mahala (Wood) Day. Res. a short time in Ashland, Mass., then he settled in Lebanon, where he spent the greater part of his life. Here was revealed the true type of his real manhood. Was one of the original members of the Baptist Church in Lebanon, formed in Aug., 1862, and was its first deacon, always serving as a member of the Society committee. Was on the Building committee for the construction of their first chapel, and also for their commodious house of worship. Always a generous giver for the church and for benevolence. He had the respect of all who knew him. Was an honest upright man and a devoted Christian. In 1853 he moved to Shelburne Falls, Mass., where in his new home, near his dau.. he d. Jan. 9, 1884. Children:
i. ABBY FLORETTA, b. Sept. 29, 1853, in Cornish; m. June 12, 1879, Prof. H. S. Cowell of Francistown. Prin. of Cushman Academy at Ashburnham, Mass. Five children, most of whom have received and are receiving (1903) a college education.
ii. ALICE LIVONA, b. Aug. 29, 1860, in Ashland, Mass.; d. Jan. 13, 1866.
iii. ANGIE VIOLA, b. May 11, 1867, in Lebanon; d. June 11, 1873.
iv. CHAS. HENRY, b. May 10, 1870, in Lebanon; d. Aug. 19, 1870.
v. CARRIE LILLIAN, b. Jan. 12, 1874, in Lebanon. Graduated at Bates College in class 1897. Teacher for several years since in high school, in Conway, Mass.
