Chase, Moses
The following data is extracted from History of the Town of Cornish, Sullivan County, New Hampshire.
1. MOSES4 CHASE (Daniel3, Moses2, Aquilla1) the tenth and youngest child of Daniel3 and Sarah (March) Chase, was b. March 16, 1727, in -Newbury, Mass. When about five years of age, he, with his parents rem. to Sutton, Mass. He came to Cornish at, or soon after, the first settlement of the town in 1765. He was then nearly forty years of age. He had m. April 15, 1752, Hannah Brown of Sutton, dau. of Jonas Brown, b. Nov. 15, 1735, and d. Jan. 16, 1512, aged 76. He d. Oct. 18, 1799.
"Who departed this life in comfortable hope of a better." (Inscription on his tombstone.)
They both d. and were buried in Cornish. Children of Moses and Hannah (Brown) Chase. The first six were b. before coming to Cornish and the rest in town:
2. i. DANIEL, b. March 15, 1753.
3. ii. JOHN, b. Oct. 4.1755.
iii. HANNAH, b. Feb. 7,1758; m. Dec. 4, 1777, Daniel Kimball of Meriden. He was the founder of Kimball Union Academy which was incorporated in 1813, receiving his name, as he was the chief donor. He contributed 56,000 towards it at the first, and made it his residuary legatee. Therefore at his death, Feb. 27, 1817, 5:32,000 more came into the treasure from his estate. In 1839 Mrs. Kimball gave 810,000 more for the establishment of a female department for the institution. The balance of her estate also came to the institution after her death, which occurred June 17. 1847. A worthy example, and thousands since have enjoyed the rich fruits of their liberality. Mr. Kimball d. before he saw hardly any results of his beneficent plan. They had no children, but She watched over the school with a lively and motherly interest during her entire widowhood of thirty years.
iv. AMOS, b. May 19, 1760. Was a graduate of Dartmouth College and became a minister of the gospel; m. first, Nov. 30, 1788, Rebecca Hart; m. second, Joanna Lammon. He d. in Centerville, Crawford Co., Pa., Jan. 25, 1850, aged 89.

vi. JUDITH. b. Nov. 26, 1764; m. -, Capt. Sylvanus Bryant of Cornish. Had ten children. (See Bryant.) She d. Oct. 2, 1811.
5. vii. CALEB M., b. Sept. 11, 1767.
viii. SUSAN, b. Aug. 4, 1769; d. Oct. 26, 1769.
6. ix. MOODY, b. Oct. 10, 1770.
7. x. MOSES, b. Nov. 29, 1772.
xi. SUSAN, twin, b. July 4, 1776, and d. Oct. 20, 177 7. He was b.
8. xii. CLEMENT, twin, b. July 4, 1776.
9. xiii. HARVEY, b. Nov. 13, 1778.
xiv. SARAH, b. Oct. 9, 1751; m. in 1801, Rev. John W. Lord. in Lyme, Conn., in 1777. Graduated Dartmouth College in 1797, and d. in Buffalo, N. Y., in 1839. He was pastor of the Congregational Church in Washington for several years.
