Chase, Thomas

The following data is extracted from History of the Town of Cornish, Sullivan County, New Hampshire.

THOMAS5 CHASE (Wells4, Moses3-2, Aquilla1) was b. in Amesbury, Mass., May 14, 1735. Went first to Chester, where he in. in 1758, Mary Hall, dau. of Henry Hall, and afterwards settled in Salisbury. After a few years, in 1768, he and family came and settled in Cornish, and a part of their children were b. here. After some years he returned to Salisbury, where he d. in 1807. The first seven children were b. in Salisbury and the rest in Cornish:

i. TIMOTHY, b. Jan. 22, 1758, and d. in Cornish July 5, 177
ii. MOSES, b. March 23, 1759. A Revolutionary soldier; was in Col. (afterwards Gen.) Stark's Regt. in May, 1777; served till 1780; after the war he came back to Cornish and m. Hannah Spaulding and had four children b. in Cornish: 1. Henry. 2. Hannah. 3. Moses. 4. Judah. After this he rem. to Waitsfield, Vt., where he spent the remainder of his life.
iii. ELIZABETH, b. Dec. 10, 1760; m. Aug. 24, 1780, Job Stevens of Plainfield. Had nine children. Shea March 31, 18-30.
iv. WILLIAM, b. Oct. 18, 1762. A soldier of the Revolution from Mass. Afterwards settled in Waitsfield, Vt.; was m. three times and had children. He d. in 1853, aged 91.
v. JOANNA, b. July 16, 1764.
vi. MARTHA, b. May 17, 1766.
vii. MARY, b. April 10, 1768.
viii. HANNAH, b. Dec. 27, 1769; m. Abel Spaulding, a brother of the wife of Moses. Rem. to Waitsfield, Vt. She d. March 8, 1832, in Delaware, O. She had eight children. First two were b. in Cornish.
ix. EMMA, b. Sept. 29. 1772.
x. THOMAS, b. Sept. 3, 1774. Also rem. to Waitsfield, Vt., where he m. Betsey . He d. Aug. 2, 1828. xi. WELLS, b. Feb. 2, 1778; m. =, Rachel Worthen.
