Cutting, Darius Released 26 November 2002 CUTTING, DARIUS, came from Rutland; was the son of Abraham. He m. Sally Waite, September, 1789; and had Lewis, b. Jan. 2, 1790; who m. Rebekah, dau. of John Sargent, and removed to Worcester. He now lives in West Boylston. Absalom, b. Jan. 29, 1792. Alice, m. Daniel Hastings, 1817, and removed to Petersham. Eliza, m. Elijah H. Trowbridge, 1818, and removed to the western part of New York. Charles, b. July 6, 1801; d. 1859, unmarried. William D., b. Jan. 2, 1804. George, b. May 11, 1806. Sarah Ann, b. Nov. 14, 1810. Otis, b. Jan. 23, 1813. Capt. Cutting once commanded one of the military companies of the town. He was by trade a hatter, and carried on his business in a shop next west of the tavern, and near the house which he built, and is now standing. After that (about 1807) he removed to Cherry Valley, where he lived the remainder of his days. He died Sept. 18, 1830, aged sixty-six. He was a man of much pleasantry and good-humor, and was esteemed by his neighbors and friends.
