Hugh was born in Riverside, Calif., on April 13, 1915. He was in the United States Army from 1945-1947 in the Army of Occupation stationed in Korea.

Hugh was employed with Pacific Bell Telephone Company in Southern California for 35 years, retiring in 1972 to Richland to enjoy his outdoor dream of hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Eagle Valley Grange in Richland. In 1994 he and his wife, Eunice, moved to Baker City.

Friends, neighbors and family recently helped Hugh and Eunice celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary where many remembered Hugh's special love of gardening and his generous sharing of each year's harvest.
