Litton, George W.

The following data is extracted from History of Daviess County, Missouri - Jackson Township, Daviess County, Missouri, Biographies.

This gentleman was born in Livingston County, this State, on the 16th .day of May, 1842, and was reared and educated in the County of his birth. He commenced life as a farmer in his native County, and continued there until the fall of 1880, when he came to Daviess County locating at Lock .Springs, where he engaged in the dry goods and grocery business. In the following August he took in as partner, Mr. Minnick, the firm now being styled Litton & Minnick.

Mr. Litton was married, in Livingston County, May 21, 1865, to Miss Nancy E. Minnick, a native of this State, who was born March 21, 1846. Six children have been born of this union, five of whom still survive. Those living are: Susannah F., born November 13, 1866; Mary L., born January 21, 1869; Alexander J., born August 11, 1870; Elizabeth C., born March 27,1870; and Nancy E., born August 9, 1878. An infant child born June 17, 1873, died the same month. Mr. Litton is a gentleman of thorough business turn of mind, and has already won the esteem and confidence of the people in his new place of abode, and has a large and growing trade in his line.
