Baker City, Oregon
Waynette Waggoner, 65, of Baker City, Ore., died July 23, 2006, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise, Idaho. Her husband, Steve Waggoner of 36 years and her children were at her side.
A Memorial service will be held July 28, 2006, 11 a.m. at the Baker City Christian Church. Pastor Roger Scovil of the Baker City Christian Church will officiate. A reception will follow at the Baker City Christian Church.
Cremation will be at Eastern Oregon Pioneer Crematory.
Waynette was born to Marcella and Lloyd Lang on March 20, 1941 in Salem, Ore. After serving in World War II, Lloyd moved the family to Vale, Ore., and bought and operated a dairy farm. Waynette graduated from Vale High School in 1959. One of her special high school memories was a thing in her junior and senior plays.
Waynette grew up loving horseback riding and fishing.
One of her favorite pastimes was to go fishing at Lake Owyhee with her family. After a hard day of fishing and managing all her children and grand kids, she still had the energy to cook platters of some of the best tasting fish one ever had. In 1985 she bought and operated Broadway Upholstery and Trophies Unlimited in Baker City. Waynette was an exceptional seamstress. Her sewing skills grew from making many suits and dresses for her husband, children and grandchildren. She put her sewing skills to use at the Upholstery Shop repairing everything from car seats to upholstery in boats. She also made some of the best trophies and plaques to commemorate various occasions.
Waynette and Steve retired in 2005. They enjoyed traveling around the country with their camper and boat. Many weekends were spent camping and fishing with her children and grandchildren. When they weren’t fishing, Waynette and Steve could be found at their home in Baker City, planting flowers and gardening. Their lives have been enriched and blessed through God’s family at the Baker City Christian Church.
Waynette is survived by her husband, Steve, sister Roberta Smith, Brothers, Merle and Dewayne Lang and Everett Kyniston, her children, Stephenie Merrill, Donald and David Anderson, Tammy Lamb, Ronnie and Dennis Waggoner, as well as her 13 grandchildren. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed, but we are comforted to know that she is at peace and surrounded by the Lord’s love.
