Von Arx, Dorothy Law Mrs. – Obituary

Dorothy Von Arx, 88, of Pendleton, a former resident of Baker City and North Powder, died May 18, 2007, at a Pendleton care center.

Private interment will be at the Olney Cemetery near Pendleton. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Von Arx was born on March 2, 1919, at Baker City. She was the daughter of Charles J. and Frances Heard Law.

Several years later, the family moved to North Powder. She attended schools at North Powder and Walla Walla High School. She was a 1936 Baker High School graduate. She later attended Baker Business College and then went to work for the Baker County Tax Department.

She married Leo J. Von Arx of Pendleton on Sept. 17, 1941. The couple were married in St. Frances de Sales Cathedral at Baker City.

She moved to Pendleton and a short time later went to work for the Umatilla County Tax Department. Many years later she resigned and went to work for the First Federal Savings & Loan Association, which later became the Western Heritage Federal Savings & Loan Association from which she retired.

She and her husband and friends enjoyed many years of dancing. She also enjoyed playing bridge and had belonged to several clubs.

Survivors include her son, Roger Von Arx of Pendleton; a granddaughter, Kimberly Pfeiffer of Vancouver, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Linda Geisler; and her parents.
