Thompson, Perry H. – Obituary

Last Thursday morning Perry H. Thompson, one of the old pioneers of Wallowa county, passed away at his home at his farm 4-1/2 miles north of Wallowa, after an illness of a few weeks from stomach trouble. He was a man of sterling qualities and will be missed in the community. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church Friday and interment was in the Lower Valley Cemetery.

Perry H. Thompson was born in Greenbrier, West Virginia, Feb. 8, 1849 and died August 17, 1915, aged 66 years, six months and nine days. He was the son of John and Rebecca Thompson. He spent his early years in West Virginia, coming to Oregon in 1900 locating 25 miles north of Wallowa where he resided until five years ago. He bought a farm 4-1/2 miles from Wallowa where he was engaged in farming.

He was married May 20, 1879 to Julia Scarbrough of Rock Creek, W. Va. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and 12 children; Belle Trump of Promise; Joseph, Ed, Clown and Al of Enterprise; Ez of Island City; Es, John, Bird, Dock, Ike and Willie of Wallowa, two sisters in the East and Mrs. Al Daniels of Utopia, one brother R.H. Thompson of Halfway, Ore.
