Taylor, Ida Irene Wilson Mrs. – Obituary

Ida Irene Taylor, 70, of Baker City, died March 20, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Health Services.

Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Haines United Methodist Church. There will be a reception afterward at the church.

Ida Irene was born Jan. 4, 1937, at Baker City to Bill and Hazel Wilson. She married Richard “Dick” Taylor Nov. 29, 1957, at Carlsbad, Calif. Early in their marriage, Dick was in the military. Of that time, Ida said, “I was a mother to a bunch of Marines for three years.”

Ida and Dick lived at Henderson, Nev., when Dick got out of the service. They moved back to Baker City and ranched for three years. Ida and the family moved around after Dick went back to work for Safeway, but they made it back to Baker City in September of 1977.

Ida was an avid deer hunter. She loved camping, hiking and fishing and loved sharing these activities with her family and friends. She was very active and enjoyed going to water aerobics to be with her group of friends. Ida was also very involved in Relay for Life.

Survivors include her husband of almost 50 years, Dick Taylor of Baker City; a son, David Taylor, and his wife, Anne, of Libby, Mont.; a daughter, Debbie Bell, and her husband, Cris, of Halfway; granddaughters, Kirsten Taylor, 16, Elissa Taylor, 12, McKenzie Bell, 15, and Baylee Bell, 8; grandson Riley Bell, 10; older brother Richard Wilson of Baker City; and younger sister, Lola Ruff of Baker City.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life or the American Heart Association through Gray’s West & Co., 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City, OR 97814.
