Life-Time Cove Resident Dies
Cove (Special)- Mary Velina Rees, 71, died early this morning at her home in Cove after a long illness.
Mrs. Rees was born in Cove, February 22,1872, and had been a resident of that city all of her life. On December 4, 1895, she was married to E. C. [Edward Canby] Rees. Thomas Jones, an early settler, was the father of Mrs. Rees. Survivors are her husband E. C. Rees of Cove; one sister Mrs. Sue Cates of Portland; a son Mack of Cove; a daughter-in-law Mrs. Della Rees of La Grande; and seven grandchildren. Funeral will be Friday afternoon, June 25, at 2 o’clock, at the Snodgrass Funeral Home. Burial will be in the family plot in Cove cemetery.
Mary Jones Rees, was my great grandmother. She died June 23, 1943. This newspaper obit is most likely from the La Grande Observer. Brackets are mine in above text.
