Larry Arnold Pratt, 67, of Prairie City, who was raised in North Powder, died April 28, 2005, after a long illness.

His graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Haines Cemetery. There will be a reception dinner afterward at the First Baptist Church in Haines, 714 Cole. Visitations will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grays West & Co. Pioneer Chapel , 1500 Dewey Ave.

He was born on Dec. 2, 1937, to Louis and Edythe Pratt and was raised on the North Powder River, and attended North Powder School. He was a 1956 graduate of Powder Valley High School.

He was very popular in school and played all sports. He especially liked basketball and football.

He was a very social and friendly person, willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He was a very talented man who could fix anything. A lot of ranchers were upset when he couldn’t shear sheep anymore, because he was so good at it.

He was very proud of his kids and grandkids and loved them very much. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his mother, Edythe; his sister, Wanda, and her husband, George “Danny” Gover; his friend and soul mate for 20 years, Clara Lemley; mothers of his children, Zona Pratt and Freda Wallace; his children, Jim, and his wife, Connie, Ray and his wife, Julie, Curt and his wife, Judy, Scott and his wife, Kathy, Shawn and his wife, Sandra, Dawn and her husband, Mike, and Arnie and his wife, Angie; eight stepchildren, 42 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren, and one stepgreat-grandchild; three nieces, Jeanie Gover, Twila Stenvik and her husband, Jon, and their two boys, and Jody Ericksson, her husband, Aaron, and their son; and his cousins, Kenneth and Judy McGowen, Marjorie Gress, John Pembrook; and the Homer Pierce family.

Preceding him in death was his father, Louis Pratt; a stepdaughter and a stepgrandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital through Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. Canyon Blvd., John Day, OR 97845.
