Dean Manley Music, 75, a former Baker City resident, died April 24, 2008, in a Salem hospital.
His memorial service was April 26 at Stayton.
Dean was born on Jan. 21, 1933, at Rocky Point, Wyo., to Vernon M. and Alice M. Music. They family moved to Oregon when Dean was 3. After completing his education at Shelburn School at Shelburn, he spent several years working on a ranch in Wyoming.
Upon his return to Oregon, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Dean spent many years in the tire industry, working and being affiliated with the Les Schwab Tire Corp. Dean retired from the tire business at Estacada.While living at Estacada he was very involved in the community and served as president of the chamber of commerce.
After the death of his wife, Ramona “Dolly,” he moved to Baker City where he enjoyed fishing and hunting and working in his yard.
While in Baker City, he met Doris Shook. The couple moved to Redmond for a while and then to Lyons.
Dean and Doris enjoyed playing cards, gardening, fishing and just being together. Dean loved kids and they all loved him.
“One thing people always said about Dean was that he was such a nice person and he was liked by all,” his family said.
Survivors include his wife, Doris, and her children, Juanita, Loren and Shelly; his first wife, Patricia Bates Music, and their children, Pamela Deaver of Davenport, Wash., and Connie Lecklider of Dufur; two stepdaughters from his second marriage, Linda Wentworth of Baker City, and Eileen Lewis of Oregon City; two brothers, Floyd and Harold; a sister, Vera; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bill; his son, Gene; and his second wife, Ramona “Dolly.”
