Phyllis Marie Marx, 56, of La Grande, died July 29 at her home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Daniels Chapel of the Valley, and viewing will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the chapel. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery following the funeral service.
Phyllis was born on July 1, 1951, the daughter of Beryl and Dorothy (Silvey) Brookshire in Prineville. The family lived in Mitchell before moving to Union, where she graduated from high school. She worked in the bakery at Albertsons for 14 years.
On April 4, 1992, she married Bert Marx in La Grande. She enjoyed crocheting, camping, fishing and boating.
Survivors include her husband, Bert of La Grande; children, Mark Kirkland of Nampa, Idaho, and Laurie and Tim Testiman of Enterprise; parents, Beryl and Dorothy Brookshire of Union; brothers, Rick Brookshire of Alaska and Jeff Brookshire of Enterprise; two grandsons; and other relatives. Her son, Clint Kirkland, preceded her in death.
