Barbara June Martinez, 60, of Baker City, died Nov. 6, 2006, at Baker City.
There will be a celebration of her life at 10 a.m. Friday at Coles Funeral Home, 1950 Place St.
Barbara was born on Jan. 2, 1946, at Baker City to Howard and Lillian Hull. She was Baker County’s New Year’s Baby for 1946.
Barbara grew up and attended Baker schools. She spent her life in Baker City. She worked for St. Elizabeth Health Services for several years before illness forced her into early retirement.
Barbara enjoyed spending time with her sister, Robin, and her best friend, Carol Reedy. Her hobbies included reading, visiting with friends, family and others and visiting yard sales.
She enjoyed practical jokes. She was compassionate toward the less fortunate, especially animals. She liked to help others, but liked to do it anonymously. She also enjoyed mothering her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Melody Davis, and her son-in-law, Craig, her son, Dean Martinez, and his fiancée, Connie Ihrig, all of Baker City; grandchildren, Brandon Davis, Ashley Davis, Rebekah Davis, Robert Martinez and Jessica Martinez, all of Baker City; her sister, Robin Morin, and her husband, Roger, of La Grande; her brother, Dick Hull of Baker City; sisters-in-law, Thelma Hull, Cherylee Hull and Vickie Hull, all of Baker City; brothers-in-law, Bud Handy of Baker City and Kenneth Burnside of Warrenton; numerous nieces and nephews; her best friend, Carol Reedy; and her dog, Sassy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and several brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to help with the expenses of Barbara’s funeral care through Coles Funeral Home, Mountain States Tumor Institute or Best Friends of Baker in memory of her pal, Sassy, through Coles Funeral Home, 1950 Place St., Baker City, OR 97814.
