La Rue, Dean – Obituary

Baker City, Oregon

Dean La Rue, 74, of Baker City died Dec. 26, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Health Services.

There will be no memorial service. His ashes will be scattered in the mountains around Baker City, as was his wish.

Dean was born Jan. 4, 1932, at The Dalles. He met his wife, Pat, 26 years ago in Kansas City, Kan., and they were married there on July 2, 1983.

Dean loved working out regularly, and lifting weights. He was a “health nut,” taking vitamins, eating healthy and doing anything pertaining to his health. Dean was also an avid reader, reading anything he could get his hands on, especially anything that had to do with the outdoors, hunting or health.

Dean loved big game hunting, and anything that had to do with the outdoors or mountains. He was happiest when he and his best buddy, Harry Galloway, were hunting together.

Dean upholstered furniture for 50 years, and he retired to Baker City with his wife, Pat, from the Kansas City area.

Survivors include his wife, Pat La Rue of Baker City; his brothers, Robert Swales and his wife, Lee, of North Powder, and Gerald Swales and his wife, Janet, of The Dalles; a sister, Patricia Hawkins and her husband, Bill, of Topeka, Kan.; a daughter; two sons; a stepdaughter; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Contributions to help his wife with funeral expenses may be made through Gray’s West & Co., 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City, OR 97814.
