Huffman, Cecil G. – Obituary

Cecil G. Huffman, 86, of Sweet Home, a former Baker City resident, died March 15, 2008.

His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 24, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.

Cecil was born on May 21, 1921, at Mutual, Okla., to William and Feign Ritterhouse Huffman.
During his life, he lived in Oklahoma and California and came to Oregon in the early 1930s. He was a 1939 Sweet Home High School graduate.

Cecil served in the U.S. Navy from Sept. 22, 1942, to Nov. 13, 1945. He served aboard ship in the South Pacific with the medics during the war. He was honorably discharged during World War II.

He worked as a liquor and drug enforcement agent for the State of Oregon, retiring in 1980. He liked collecting small-gauge railroads.

The Huffmans lived in Baker City for about 23 years. Cecil moved to the community in 1962 and his wife, Ruth, joined him 1963. They moved about 1995.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; children, Laura and Roger; and three grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Feign; stepdad, Tom Clem; sister, Charlotte; and brother, Gid, who was killed in World War II.
