William Gover, Sr. Lifetime Resident Passes June 27
Funeral services for William Louden Gover, Sr., 55, of Richland, Ore., will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, June 30, 1972 at the Methodist Church in Richland. The Rev. Carroll McIntosh of Redmond and Rev. Russell Booher of Halfway, will officiate, with interment following in Eagle Valley Cemetery under the direction of the Beatty Chapel.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers those who desire may make memorials to the Oregon Heart Fund or to the First Methodist Church of Richland, which can be done through the Beatty Chapel. Mr. Gover passed away at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital on Tuesday, June 27 after a short illness.
Mr. Gover was born on Nov. 17, 1916 at Sparta, Ore., the son of David S. and Pearl L. Gover. He attended Rock Creek and Sunnyside grade schools, and was graduated from Eagle Valley High School. He was united in marriage on Nov. 17, 1938 in Weiser, Ida, to Mary Anna Saunders. Mr. Gover was a prominent stockman and rancher and had lived in Baker County for his entire lifetime.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Anna Gover of Richland, Ore.; 3 daughters, Nancy Carol Gover of Richland, Julia Ann Woods of Baker, and Elizabeth (Beth) Pearl Windhan [Windham] of La Grande; one son, William Louden Gover, Jr. of Richland; three sisters, Lura Jane Heggie of Santa Ana, Cal., Mary Cropp of North Powder and Mattie Dethloff of Rainer, Ore.; three brothers, Ronald Gover, Sr. of Summerville, Ore., David S. Gover, Jr. of Alicel, Ore., and Clifford Gover of Jordan Valley, Ore.; three grandchildren, Lori and Darin Woods of Baker and Brice Windhan of La Grande; two step-grandsons, Marc and Morgan Windhan of La Grande and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death of his parents, one brother and one sister.
