Gourley, Edward Wayne Jr., MD – Obituary

Wayne Gourley was born in Seattle, Wash., to Edward Wayne Sr. and Ramona Warren Gourley. He graduated from the University of Washington and the University of Oregon Medical School in 1950 with an MOS in Psychiatry.

Wayne served in the Army National Guard and the US Army and again during the Korean War at Camp Stone-man, Calif., from 1951-1953 as a Psychiatrist.

Wayne was self employed for over 30 years in private practice in Internal Medicine in Portland. After retirement he spent another 18 years working for the US Government Military Entrance Processing Station in Portland.

Wayne was an avid hiker and mountain climber, climbing all the peaks in Oregon as well as Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, and Mt. Adams in Washington.

Survivors include his wife Dora M. Gourley; daughters, Beth Moffenbeier, Ann Gourley, and Brenda Deskin; 2 grandchildren, Matt and Lisa Moffenbeier.

At his request, no services will be held. Interment will be in the Haines Pioneer Cemetery, Haines, Ore.

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society at Providence Hospital in Portland or through Signature Hospice at Cascadia Behavioral Health, The Dougy Center for Grieving Children, Oregon Healthcare Foundation.

Canby Funeral Chapel was entrusted with his arrangements.
