Gould, Doris Jo “Darcie” Williams Mrs. – Obituary

Doris Jo “Darcie” Gould, 57, of Athena, a former Baker City resident, died Oct. 10, 2002, at her home.

Her memorial service was at 2 p.m. today at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home at Milton-Freewater. The Rec. Jeff Beazley of the Bethel Baptist Church at Milton-Freewater officiated.

Mrs. Gould was born on Dec. 6, 1944, at Glover, Okla., to Elmer S. and Lucille F. Powell Williams. She grew up and attended schools at Glover.

At the age of 17, she moved to Texas. She married Jay E. Gould on Dec 31, 1963, at Hugo, Okla. The couple lived in Texas for 15 years before moving back to Oklahoma where they lived until 1992. They next moved to Baker City and then to Athena in 1998.

Mrs. Gould loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and painting. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Gould expressed her love for the outdoors by painting. Her paintings had won her numerous awards and she donated many of them to communities, businesses and clinics in towns from Oklahoma to Oregon. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jay E. Gould of Athena; a daughter, Voncille Sanderst of Baker City; a son, Herschel Gould of Irrigon; three sisters, Shirley Jackson of Baker City, Wilma Jackson of Wright, Okla., and Orgaree Jackson of Glover, Okla.; two brothers, Jimmy Williams of Glover, Okla., and Curtis Williams of Wright City, Okla.; five grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sons and two granddaughters.
