Goebel, Mildred Boston – Obituary

Mrs. Charles (Mildred) Goebel, who was convalescing at the Wallowa hospital following an operation for appendicitis, died suddenly Wednesday morning, March 31, 1926, as she was preparing to go to her home.

Mrs. Goebel, who was operated on exactly two weeks before, apparently was recovering very nicely, and Wednesday morning Mr. Goebel had come to take her home.

She was dressed and sitting on the bed. Feeling weak, she called to the nurse to bring her a glass of water, saying she felt as if she were going to faint. The nurse brought the water and called Dr. Gregory and Mr. Goebel, but within 15 minutes she was dead. She was conscious to the last and able to talk. Asked by Mr. Goebel if she was in pain, she replied, “no,” and that she thought she had just fainted. Death was thought to have been due to a blood clot around the heart.

Mildred Boston was born August 9, 1905, being 21 years, 7 months and 22 days of age at the time of her death. She was born and reared in Troy, Oregon, where here parents still reside. She was a student of the Wallowa High School two years. On February 26, 1923, she was married to Charles Goebel.

Mrs. Goebel leaves her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. D. Boston of Troy, one brother, Dewey Boston of Troy, and four sisters, Mrs. Ray Knight and Mrs. G.L. Smith of Wallowa, Mrs. Arthur Knight of Troy and Mrs. Nellie Devine of Moscow, Idaho, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the M. E. church at 2 o’clock this afternoon by Rev. G. H. Feese, with interment in the Wallowa Cemetery.
