Cropp, Anna – Obituary

Native of Eagle Valley, Passes at Age 91
Parent Crossed Plains by Wagon in 1874; Last of 13 Children.

Memorial service for Anna Jane Cropp, will be conducted Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in Grays’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel.

Pastor Marvin Carr of the First Christian Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the family plot in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Anna Cropp was born May 3, 1880 the daughter of pioneer parents, Frederick and Mary Ferguson Simonis, who crossed the plains in 1874 from Wisconsin.

She was the last survivor of 13 children. She had her schooling in Richland, Ore.

She was married to James Silas Cropp in 1900 and they lived in Eagle Valley and Baker many years. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1950. Mr. Cropp preceded her in death in 1953.

Mrs. Cropp was a member of the First Christian Church, Baker County Historical Society and the Friendship Club.

She was crowned Baker County Pioneer Queen in 1960.

She is survived by 7 children: Mrs. (Agnes) Roy Willett of Richland, Mrs. Norna Sullivan of Los Angeles, Mrs. (Mary) Orin Clemons of Richland, Mrs. (Margaret) Merle Osborne of Vancouver, Wn., Mrs. (Adelene) Albert Chavez of Salem, James Wilbur Cropp of Salem and Marvin Cropp of No. Powder. Also 25 grandchildren, 37 great-children, 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends who wish may contribute to the charity of their choice as a memorial tribute.
