Funeral services for Mr. Frank Leslie Burford, Of Union, 82, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Methodist Church in Union under the direction of the Beatty Chapel. The Rev. James H. Soden of the Calvary Baptist Church in Baker will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in the Union Cemetery. Mr. Burford died early Monday morning, Jan 31, (1972) after a short illness.

Mr. Burford was born on Oct. 1, 1889 at Cove, the son of James Samuel and Minnie Rundall Burford. He attended schools in Cove, and farmed in High Valley. He worked for over 20 years for the Hess Lumber Company in Union.

He was very interested in baseball, and played with the Alexander baseball team of Cove.

Mr. Burford had been in Baker since early fall to spend the winter with his daughter.

He married Elva Virgie Ross in La Grande, Dec. 3, 1913. She died in 1956.

He is survived by two daughters, Ada Cowles of Baker, and Reta Connell of Portland; one brother, Claude Burford of Gervais; two sisters, Hazel Hartley of Cove and a sister, Letha in California: three grandchildren, Gordon Cowles, Leslie and Margaret Connell, all of Portland and by numerous nieces and nephews.
