Bone, Harriette Wilson Mrs. – Obituary

Harriette W. Bone, 87, a resident of Pendleton and former longtime resident of Huntington, died May 24, 2007 in the Juniper House Care Facility, Pendleton.

At her request, there will be no services. Private ash interment will be in the Huntington Cemetery. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bone was born May 8, 1920, in Hood River. She was the daughter of Harry and Edith (Adams) Wilson.

She was raised and educated in the Cook, Wash., area near Stevenson, Wash. She graduated from high school in Stevenson. After graduation, she moved to Vancouver, Wash., and attended college for a time.

She later married Leroy Bone on June 23, 1940, in Stevenson. Two children were born to that marriage, and it later ended in divorce. She then moved to Huntington, where she had lived and worked for over 54 years. She worked as a cook, waitress and bartender in Huntington at many local cafes and bars including Howell’s and Grady’s. She retired in 1972. She moved to the Pendleton area in 1994 to be closer to her daughter.

She will be remembered for her friendliness, quick wit and sense of humor, and the way she was straight to the point.

She greatly enjoyed fishing, flower gardening and playing cards, especially pinochle.

She had been Methodist and had been a member of the senior center, Beta Sigma Phi and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, a son, Harold Bone of Phoenix, Ariz., and a daughter, Heidi Bonbright of Pendleton; two sisters, Wanda Wilson of Willamina and Patsy Dewalt of White Salmon, Wash.; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Elouise Giles and Floradell Wykle.
