We venture the assertion that Union “kids” cannot compare favorably with the last addition to our population and although we seldom “buck the tiger” we will put up a “bobtailed yaller dog” against the wager offered by the “happy dad” of Union, that this is the superior production of the county and show up with him on the summit of Lyon’s hill, as soon as Charley is able to travel. Sam Stone

A very strange object attracted our attention the other day, and after an investigation, proved to be Sam Stone with his head in a barrel listening to the echo of those beautiful words, “Papa, Papa.” Sam, in the midst of his joy, raised his head and proclaimed with a loud voice saying “I am the daddy of a 12 pound girl.” Sam and baby are doing fine.
