Services Set For Accident Victim

Funeral services will be held this afternoon, Thursday April 28, 1955 at two o’clock from the chapel of the Snodgrass Funeral Home for Henry Eugene (Gene) Banton who lost his life early Monday morning, in the Union County powder house explosion.

Rev. Gene Robinson will officiate and interment will be in the family plot of the City cemetery.

He was born in La Grande, February 1895, residing here all of his life. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. No. 433 and the Mt. Emily Post No. 2990, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are his wife, Cassie; three step children, Lorna Baker of La Grande; Mrs. Fred Noe of Napa, California; Claude Baker of Oakland, California and one step granddaughter.

Sisters surviving are Mrs. Alta Winburn, Mrs. Frank Poole and Mrs. Frank Young all of La Grande and one brother, J. W. Banton of Twin Falls, Idaho.

Also, surviving are several nieces and nephews and an aunt, Mrs. Oscar Crossen of La Grande and two uncles, William and Jack McCauley, also of La Grande.

Mr. Banton resided at 116 thirteenth St. and was foreman of the Union County highway shops.
