Baker City, Oregon

George Emmet Andrew, 82, of Baker City died Nov. 2, 2001 in a Boise hospital of complications resulting from a traffic accident Sept. 28 in downtown Baker City.

Disposition was by cremation. His ashes will be dispersed at his favorite locality.

Mr. Andrew was born in Portland on Sept. 2, 1919. He graduated from Kelso High School in 1938. He worked at The Long Bell Lumber Co. in Longview, Wash., from 1940 until he enlisted in the Army Signal Corps after Pearl Harbor and attained the rank of sergeant. After World War II service he returned to work for Long Bell and later was self-employed in the timber industry. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, walking, biking, cutting wood, remodeling and other similar activities.

At one time he owned Whites Sweet Shop at Castle Rock, Wash. He was a longtime member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and he loved the church and his many friends.

Survivors include his wife Judy of Baker City; a son, Sam C. Andrew of Farmington, N.M.; daughters, Denise L. Rowe of Farmington, N.M., Ellen R. Owens, of St. George, Utah, and Dannella J. Scully of Farmington, N.M; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a brother, Glenn N. Andrew of Castle Rock, Wash.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Andrew Alexander Fisher.
