Dora Allen Died Tues., Aug. 1.

Dora Rose Allen a longtime resident of Baker County passed away Tuesday, August 1st at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Baker. She was 61 years old.

Friends may call for visitation on Thursday, August 3rd at the Pioneer Chapel of Gray’s West and Co. from 9:00am until 9:00pm. Friends may call on the family at their home at 2828 Baker St. on Thursday evening.

Mrs. Allen was born on January 2, 1928 in Haines the daughter of Archie and Elizabeth Shock Long. She spent her childhood and attended schools in Haines. She was a member of the last graduating class of the Haines High School. After her schooling she attended Pacific Beauty College in Portland. On March 6, 1948 she was united in marriage to Al Allen in Portland.

Mrs. Allen was a homemaker and family filled her life. She enjoyed needle work, especially embroidery and knitting. She loved fishing and hunting. She had an “eagle eye” for spotting deer and seemed to always catch the most fish.

She is survived by her husband, Al Allen of Baker, son and daughter-in-law, John and Lynne Allen of Kennewick, WA., daughter, Teresa Allen of Portland. Grandchildren, Travis and Heidi Allen of Kennewick, WA., and Michelle and Ryan Allen of Baker. As well as four sisters, Beulah Bell of Redmond, OR., Pansy Maxwell of Haines, and Mabel Dinnick and Georgia Sieg both of Baker. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son Mike, and one brother Floyd Long.

It has been suggested that those wishing to make memorial gifts in her memory to direct them to the St. Elizabeth Home Health and Hospice program.”
