Chicago, III., Oct. 9, 1894, Gertrude Eugenia Haight; six children. Margaret J., age 18; Willis S., Jr., age 12; Gilbert H., age 5; Francis S., age 16, Gertrude K, age 9, and Harvey O., age 2; early training and career in editorial work, serving successively as department editor, telegraph news editor, and special feature writer; became managing editor of the trade journals, The Western Publisher, and The Publishers’ Auxiliary, in 1906; traveling salesman Western Newspaper Union, 1909; mngr. Western Newspaper Union, Cleveland Branch, since 1911; also manufacturer of stereotype plate; member Western New York Newspaper Publishers Co.; Associate Ohio Dailies, Buckeye Press Assn, Municipal Ass’n of Cleveland; member Chicago Press Club, Cleveland Advertising Club, and Chamber of Commerce.
