Enlisted Aug. 27, 1917, at Concord, N.C. Was sent to Camp Sevier, S. C., and then to Philadelphia, Pa. Sailed for France May 11, 1918. Wounded at Ypres Front July 29, 1918. Sent to American Base Hospital No. 37. Returned to USA Dec. 26, 1918, and was mustered out at Camp Greene, N.C., Jan. 19, 1919. Was in Co. L, 1st N.C. N. G., before being mustered into the Federal Service.
