Sent to Camp Glenn, N.C., to Camp Stewart, Texas, to Camp Royster, N.C., to Camp Merritt, N. J. Sailed for France May 11, 1918. Promoted to rank of Major Oct. 4, 1918. Fought at Ypres, Lys offensive and Somme offensive. Left Div. Jan. 12, 1919, and attached to American Visitors Bureau in Paris. Returned to USA July 29, 1919. Mustered out at Camp Lee, Va., Aug. 16, 1919.
