Stephen Cole

4. STEPHEN4 COLE (Daniel3, Ebenezer2, Ephraim1) was b. Oct. 17, 1787; studied medicine with Dr. Roswell Leavitt of Cornish and Dr. Edward E. Phelps of Windsor, Vt., and from them received a license to practice medicine and later received an honorary degree from Dartmouth College. He settled first in Huntsburg, Vt., and then, in 1813, settled in Cornish, where he lived and practiced medicine till 1830. He then rem., first to Windsor. Vt., afterwards to Westford, N. Y., and finally to Peru, N. Y. in 1838, where he spent the rest of his life, dying Oct. 14, 1876. He was considered a physician of skill and eminence. He m. Sept. S, 1811, Joa Holbrook of Stoughton. Mass., dau. of John and Sybil (Lane) Holbrook, b. Aug. 12, 1778. Five children, the first one b. in Huntsburg. Vt., and the rest in Cornish:

    i. SAMANTHA MARIA, b. Aug. 3, 1812; m. -, D. S. Holcomb. She d. in Feb., 1851.
    ii. MARTHA JOHNSON, b. Feb. 16, 1815; m. Geo. Howe, lived in Lancaster, Wis.
7. iii. FRANK HOLBROOK, b. Oct. 14, 1816.
    iv. GEORGE WARREN, b. Jan. 22, 1819; m. Almira Holcomb, lived in Galesburg, Ill.
    v. SYBIL EDITH, b. Aug. 9, 1820; m. Henry Cochran, lived in Montpelier, Vt.
