4. RICHARD2 COBURN (Merrill1) was b. Oct. 21, 1785; m. first, Nov. 4, 1809, Sally French of Wallingford, Vt., b. in 1756, and d. May 11, 1849; m. second, Nov. 20, 1849, Lucy Mathews of Cornish, b. April 22, 1813. After Mr. Coburn’s death, she m. June 8, 1870. Dea. Arunah Burnap of Cornish and d. June 4. 1893. Mr. Coburn was a farmer and lived east of the Flat; a devoted Baptist. He d. Sept. 17. 1863. Children, all by first wife:

i. NELSON, b. Dec. 27, 1810: m. studied medicine; practiced some years in Croydon; afterwards rem. to N. Y. state where he spent the rest of his life. Three children.
ii. NOVILLA, b. May 2, 1812; m. -, Stephen Russell of Claremont. Settled in Bethel, Vt. Five children.
iii. HARRISON, b. Jan. 12, 1814; m. -, Rosina Newton and settled in Fairlee, Vt.
5. iv. STILLMAN, b. Feb. 15, 1816.
v. SOPHRONIA, b. June 11. ISIS: m. -, Sylvanus Packard, a painter. Settled first in Meriden and afterwards in Enfield. Eight children.
6. vi. MERRILL, b. Feb. 12, 1820.
vii. MITCHELL, twin bro. with last, b. Feb. 12, 1820; m. Feb. 11, 1851, Esther York of Cornish, dau. of Uriah and Betsey (Williams) York, b. Sept. 13, 1821, and d. Jan. 1, 1895. One son, Willis, b. Feb. 2, 1852, a prof. in music. Res. in Claremont. Mr. Coburn d. in Cornish April 3, 1889.
viii. PHINEHAS R., b. April 8, 1826. Never m. He d. June 18, 1847.
