Sauk Indian
Language
Language.
It is not yet possible to determine the dialectic position of the Sauk, in
particular their position with reference to other dialects of the Central
Algonquian group from the standpoint of mutual intelligibility. An
approximate order of relationship may be tentatively offered. The Sauk is
intimately related first to the Fox and then to the Kickapoo. The Shawnee
probably comes next.
