Citizen Potawatomi Tribe

Citizen Potawatomi. A part of the Potawatomi who, while living in Kansas, withdrew from the rest of the tribe about 1861, took lands in severalty and became citizens, but afterward removed to Indian Ter. (now Oklahoma). They numbered 1,036 in 1890, but by 1900 had increased to 1,722, and in 1904 the number was given as 1,686.
