Ancestors Name: BANKS, Lorica or Lowis
Nee: Unknown
Date of Birth: Unknown
State: New York
Comment: Family stories indicate we have Native American in our lineage. I'm assuming that Native American lineage had to come through marriage to one of the Banks family men. The only woman marrying into the Banks family that I cannot trace is Lorica, or Lowis, or Lois according to various Federal Census'. The Banks family resided in Scipio, Cayuga County, New York in the late 1700's and early 1800's. This woman, Lorica, married Smith Banks (son of Joshua Banks & Ruth Smith) in 1832. Smith Banks was born 1808. I'm assuming, according to census', that Lorica was born about 1809. The name "Chief" Red Bank has been mentioned down through family discussions. I'm not even sure if I have the right tribe, as she may possibly even be Unami or Delaware. I've been reviewing the various tribes of the NY,NJ,PA. area looking for the Chief's name, but have been unsuccessful. I'd like to confirm that lineage for my family tree, plus any additional information would be welcome. Can you steer me in the right direction? Thank you for your time and assistance. Rita

Ancestors Name: NEIDER, Irene
Nee: CHASE
Date of Birth:
State: New York
Comment: I am interested in tracing my great grandmother and her family. I am told that she was the daughter of the Chief of the Seneca Nation but I do not have her name. What I can tell you, is that she had a daughter (my grandmother) whose name was Irene CHASE. Irene died in February 1934, shortly after giving birth to my mother, Noreen Jean NEIDER. Irene was married to Raymond Otto NEIDER. I believe Irene was in her 20’s when she died. I have no idea how to begin my search. My mother was born in Batavia on 2/15/34. If anyone can help me start my search I would appreciate it.
