Comment: My grandfather Joseph Eugene WHITMAN from Saco, years before his death always said we were related to MOLLYOCKETT, somehow. I would like to know the names of her children, and their husbands?? to see if they match up to our line some how. My mother , Joseph's daughter always said we had native American lineage somewhere way back. And the WHITMAN family had a photograph of a native American woman but no one knows who she is, so it was evid. during my gr. gr. grandfather's time at least. Any assistance to solve who this woman is, would be greatly appreciated. Could she be MOLLYOCKETT'Sdaughter?

Date of Birth: 1700's

Comment: I am Pequawket through my BLACKEY ancestry. They lived in the NH/Maine area of Conway-Fryburg. My ancestral Indian/Pequawket stories have been handed down from generation to generation and we have no official documentation of the connection. It was not fashionable to have a mixed marriage and no records that we can find survive. However, the best records are the ones we have in our hearts, given to us by our ancestors. I gladly embrace my Indian ancestry and am passing it on to my grandchildren.

Comment: As a young child, I was always told that I was part Indian. The area that my father was from had the Pequawket tribe. The person above is my great grandfather. (I was given his name by the Fryburg Historical Society.) An aunt who still lives in Brownfield, ME told me a few years ago that my grandmother was all Indian. I haven't been able to find any documentation to support this. My father was born in Oxford County, Brownfield ME in 1914. His name Preston Gordon COLE. My Grandmother's name was Jennie Lavina COLE and her father's name Llewellyn COLE. I hope you can provide me with some information.
