Ancestors Name: LEIDINGER, Julia M.
Nee:
Date of Birth: October 1843
State: Texas
Comment: My great-great grandfather, Louis LEIDINGER, served with the U.S. Army, 1st Artillery Regiment, L Company from 1860-1890. He was posted at Fort Duncan and then Brownsville from 1860-61. During that period he married a Native American woman named Julia. The 1900 US Census lists her place of birth as Mexico but the 1910 census lists it at Texas. The 1900 census also lists her date of emigration from Mexico to Texas as 1850. I am wondering if there are any records that would help me to find out more about my great-great grandmother despite the fact that I don't have her maiden name.

Ancestors Name: HALE, Delma Jo
Nee: WILES
Date of Birth:
State: Unknown
Comment: Looking to see if our ancestry is of this tribe. I understand my Grandmother to be a member but I'm not sure how it would be documented since this was prior to 1983. I am told my Aunt (Jenny HALE) became a member of the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas after they became Federally recognized. My Great G-ma is Opal WILES, who is said to be 100% Native. Any information on these family members and their tribal heritage is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Ancestors Name: GRAY, John
Nee:
Date of Birth: 1873
State: Unknown
Comment: Trying to locate John GRAY, Delaware Indian married to Mary(?). This union produced 5 children named Johnnie Albert (1910),Charley Ross (1912), Mary Frances (1914), Jesse Joseph (1916) and Emmanuel (1920). He worked for the railroad around Minneapolis, MN (1910 & 1920), Canada (1912-14), St Louis, MO (1916), Colorado, Florida and Oklahoma. Mary left the family in Minneapolis, MN (1920). John left the area with the children ending up in Erick, OK. The two eldest boys (Johnnie and Charley) attended Riverside Indian School in Anadarko, OK for a short period (1920-21) and baby Emmanual died and was buried in Shawnee, OK during the same period. The family was in Erick, OK when John died leaving the children orphan. We believe family ties are around Anadarko, Nowata and Delaware, OK. There is one survivor (Charley 1912) hoping to find information and relatives.
