Ancestors Name: MOORE, Nancy
Nee: Moore
Date of Birth: Unknown
State: Alabama
Comment: I'm looking for information on the 1832 Creek Orphan Census. It seems the census was taken in 1860. Does anyone know why this was the case? Were those "1832" orphans really registered in 1832 or are these children orphaned in the subsequent years BECAUSE of the 1832 treaty which ceded Creek lands? I believe one of my ancestors is on this list, but it doesn't make sense because she was born in 1855, not 1832 or before.

Ancestors Name: THOMAS, Rowena
Nee: HAWKINS
Date of Birth: September 9, 1912
State: Kansas
Comment: Her father was David (Dave) HAWKINS of Linden, TX and I.T. Her mother was Della (Delia) HAWKINS nee' MAXWELL-Mack of Linden, TX. Some of the family enrolled in the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma. I do not know who she enrolled under. I'm interested in knowing if any of these names were enrolled with the Alabama-Coushatta of Texas. They might have been enumerated as "mulatto," "black" "Indian" "Freedmen" or even "white" as I've found David HAWKINS enumerated thusly in a census. The family is Creek. Thank you for any help anyone might be able to provide.
