Comment: I'm searching for my 4th-great grandmother who I'm told was a "full-blood blackfoot indian from Virgina". Based on my 3rd-great grandmothers birth year (1842) I'm guessing Heska to be born as late at 1830 and as early as 1810(?). I've read that "Blackfoot" is not a tribe but a Cherokee term or designation for mixed-race Cherokee, particularly Cherokee and african. The spelling of the name is a guess and phonetic based on the way I've heard it over the years. And don't know if it's a married or maiden name. I'm reaching out in the dark. Any potential avenues of inquiry will be most appreciated. Thanks!
