While we know our northern friends may not feel it, in the South, Spring is
here. So we thought we'd share a few of our gardening sites appropriate
for this time of the year. Along with gardening, there's grilling, and getting
ready to diet so that you can fit back into that bathing suit this summer!

Carolina Indian Villages, Towns and
Settlements
A complete listing of all the Indian villages,
towns and settlements as listed in Handbook of Americans North of Mexico.
Bear River. A tribe mentioned by Lawson (N. C., 383,
1860) as living in North Carolina in 1701, and having then a single village,
Raudauquaquank, with 50 warriors. According to Hawks (Hist. N. C., 1858-59)
they lived in Craven co., probably on a branch of the Neuse.
Briertown. A former
Cherokee settlement on Nantahala r.,
about the mouth of Briertown cr., in Macon
co., N. C. Mooney in 19th Rep. B. A. E.,
524, 1900.
