Obtaining Your Families Dawes Packet

Another source for researching the Five Civilized
Tribes is the Oklahoma Historical Society, 2100 North Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City,
OK 73105-4997. This Society is committed to preserving Oklahoma
history and maintains a large library of documents, manuscripts, etc.
They also publish a catalog of their holdings which can be ordered by
contacting them at the above address.
Mail Order Form There is an additional
fee of $5.00 for online orders.
Be
sure to include your name, tribe, enrollment category, roll number and
census card number with your request.
They presently charge $20.00 research fee
(non refundable) and $1.00 to per page for
the records.
A copy may be requested through the National
Archives--Southwest Region, P.O. Box 6216, Fort Worth, TX 76115-0216
(e-mail
archives@ftworth.nara.gov). Please include in your request the
name of the tribe, enrollment category, roll number, and census card
number. The cost is $15 per packet (20 pages) and 75 cents per page there
after. Postage $5.00 regular mail, $25.00 FedEx. They only search for names listed in the database
(ARC).
