Obtaining Your Families Dawes Packet

AccessGenealogy has joined with Footnote to bring you the information from the Dawes Packets.  When you do a search from our database, a small box will come on the right side of your screen and will tell you if there is additional information available at Footnote.  You can get a general idea if this is the person you are researching and you will have the opportunity at that time to purchase the packet. Another source for researching the Five Civilized Tribes is the Oklahoma Historical Society, 2100 North Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73105-4997.  This Society is committed to preserving Oklahoma history and maintains a large library of documents, manuscripts, etc.  They also publish a catalog of their holdings which can be ordered by contacting them at the above address. Mail Order Form There is an additional fee of $5.00 for online orders.

Be sure to include your name, tribe, enrollment category, roll number and census card number with your request.

They presently charge $20.00 research fee (non refundable) and $1.00 to per page for the records. 

A copy may be requested through the National Archives--Southwest Region, P.O. Box 6216, Fort Worth, TX 76115-0216 (e-mail archives@ftworth.nara.gov). Please include in your request the name of the tribe, enrollment category, roll number, and census card number. The cost is $15 per packet (20 pages) and 75 cents per page there after.  Postage $5.00 regular mail, $25.00 FedEx. They only search for names listed in the database (ARC).
