Baker City, Baker County, Oregon

The Rev. Ron Kratzer of the Church of the Nazarene will officiate at the service for Cloyed Richard (Bill) Bailey, a long-time Baker resident to be held Friday at 2 p.m. in The Beatty Langrell Chapel of the Valleys. Private interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Bailey, who lived at 3589 Broadway St. died Monday, November 20, 1978, at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital after a long illness. He was 74.

He was born Sept. 29, 1904 in Dell, Montana to Otis Palue and Elvina Patterson Bailey. He moved to Baker in 1947 where he lived until his death.

He was a miner and employed in the logging industry and retired from Ellingson Lumber Company at age 62. He married Rosetta L. Nottage in Salmon, Idaho, on July 3, 1924.

Survivors include his wife, Rosetta of Baker; three sons Cloyed Richard, Jr. of Auburn, Washington, Everett Joe of Baker, and Irvin Lewis of Many Farms, Arizona; four daughters Pearl R. Christensen, Elvina Huges and Virginia Carter, all of Baker and Sandra Lee Cartwright of Grants Pass; his step-mother Ethel Carter of Boise Idaho; three brothers, Jim of Salmon, Idaho, Thomas of Eagle, Idaho, and Otis of Boise, Idaho; sisters Sadie M. Brocker of Eagle, Idaho, Pearl Simmons, Hazel Anderson and Ann Chriswell of Boise, Idaho; a half-brother, Oathie of Coos Bay; three half-sisters Josephine Bailey and Emely Roach, both of Boise, Idaho, and Marjorie Gelespie of Dixie, Idaho; 24 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This may be done through the Chapel of the Valleys.

Friends may call at the chapel from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
